American Premier A Success - Le Journal de Quebec - July 31, 2008
With love, peace, and dreams as a backdrop, the
three-act show entitled Love Will Change the World was filled
with emotion. The American team's evocative title did not disappoint.
As promised by designer Gary P. Caimano, the 18,500 spectators thrilled
to the expertly synchronized pyrotechnic special effects and music. The
computer-controlled fireworks fired from seven sites around the falls
illuminated the night sky as though floating around the clouds. In fact, the American team
focused on a 'lighter than air' concept as they fine-tuned each
tableau. The crowd couldn't help but hum along with U2's
Beautiful Day, Sting's Desert Rose, and Forever Young by
Rod Stewart to the dazzling pyrotechnic display. To express their
appreciation, the team chose Sinead O'Connor's Thank You for Hearing
Me to conclude their premier performance at Grands Feux. This
Saturday it will be Canada's turn to light up the night sky.
For their first-ever pyrotechnic extravaganza at Grands Feux Loto-Quebec,
Western Enterprises offered a vibrant, passionate display at Montmorency
Falls yesterday.
Lyrical Poetry from the Americans - Le Journal de Quebec - July 31, 2008
Fireworks are not the place for subtlety. Rather lyrical
drama is usually the order of the day, and the US pyrotechnical display was the
real deal at Grands Feux Loto-Quebec yesterday.
Show designer Gary Caimano and his team pulled out
all the stops in explosive power, bringing the 18,500 spectators to
their feet at the base of Montmorency Falls yesterday. Their first-ever pyrotechnic extravaganza at Grands Feux Loto-Quebec,
Western Enterprises offered a vibrant, passionate display at Montmorency
Falls yesterday. The applause, oohhs, and aahhhs from the crowd
proved the show's resounding success. With their prophetic title
Love Will Change the World (poetic in and of itself), the
Americans drew from various pop artists for their soundtrack. The
show boasted nearly perfect synchronization of multi-colored,
multi-shaped explosions and musical extracts by Enya, Sting, Andrea
Bocelli, Cirque du Soleill, and composer Hans Zimmer.
Caimano and his team proved their creative genius with twirling
colors and sparkling tableaux that waltzed across the night sky.
Due to a 10-minute delay at the beginning of the show, your humble
servant was unable to see the final shots. Nevertheless, all evidence
pointed to a glorious finale.
